How can I book a training course?

Venues - Choosing the Right Venue for you

Most of the courses listed on this web site are run at our various training centres, as well as other customer locations subject to demand. It is therefore important for you to check the course schedule to confirm that the date you wish to attend is being held at a location which is convenient to you.

Following consultation with Service administration branches at DE&S AbbeyWood, SERVICE PERSONNEL attending courses should note that there are no mess facilities within easy daily commute of Admiral House.

Pre-requisites

For many of our courses we ask that you have requisite training or experience prior to booking. This is to ensure that all delegates gain the maximum benefit from the course they wish to attend. Any queries regarding exemption of the pre-requisites should be directed to the relevant Course Manager.

On-Line courses

To apply for an acquisition e-learning course, you must first register with our Acquisition e-Learning site (this can be accessed via the links on our homepage). Once you have registered, you will be sent a password via email and can then apply for your chosen on-line training course. Fee paying delegates will be contacted to confirm payment details after applying.

Business e-learning courses can be accessed via the Defence Learning Portal (DLP), via the MOD Intranet - www.dlp.r.mil.uk or the Internet www.dlp.mod.uk.

All of our e-learning courses, both Acquisition and Business, can also be accessed via your local DELC (www.delc.co.uk) .

Applying for a course

When you have found the course you wish to attend, you have several options available to you:

MOD Civilian and Military Staff:

Self Service. Those with HRMS access are able to view full course details, dates, availability and locations on-line. Most courses can be self booked via HRMS although some are not open for self booking due to restrictions on attendance. Where the message "Contact Training Provider" is shown then please contact the Course Administrator using the booking helpline 01793 314485 (option 2) to determine the booking process.

For those without access to HRMS or where self booking for a particular course is not permitted, there are two alternative methods available:

Telephone Booking - Available for the majority of courses via our booking helpline on 01793 314485 (option 2). Where specific circumstances require a written application, perhaps because supporting paperwork is required, you will be directed to apply using an application form.

Application Form - Non-fee paying customers should complete a DA-CMT Form 1. This can be posted to us at Admiral House or faxed on 0117 9748301. Incomplete forms will be returned which will delay the application process.

Fee Paying Customers

Most of our courses are open to Industry, Trading Fund agencies, Other Government Departments, Non-Government Organisations and Overseas Organisations. Applications from fee paying delegates should be made using a DA-CMT Form 12.

Cancellations

Delegates who are forced to cancel their place on a course should inform us immediately by contacting a member of the Customer Service Team on the booking helpline 01793 314485 (option 2). If it is outside the helpline hours of 09.00 am to 4.00 pm and the course is the next day or that day then please call Admiral House reception on 0117 9690846.

In line with current DE&S and DA-CMT A&B policy all cancellations should be for exceptional reasons only and must be approved by your Team Leader.

Fee-Paying Delegates should refer to the terms and conditions of their application form and identify the prevailing rates of cancellation.

In the event that we are forced to cancel or postpone an event, delegates will be informed by either written notification, e-mail or telephone. You will also be advised if there is an alternative or rescheduled date available.
