Description: Part of the suite of international acquisition courses, this course concentrates on defence equipment co‑operation and our relationships with our European partners. It provides an overview of the UK’s main European partners. Guest speakers from France, Germany and Italy provide overviews of their national procurement systems. The International Relations Group present the position on European initiatives and collaborative bodies e.g. European Defence Agency (EDA). A senior member of an IPT presents their practical experience of managing a major project with European partners.
Aim: To provide delegates with an awareness of the UK policy on, and experience of, co-operation with European partners and the way in which some of those partners work in both the national and international environment.
Duration: 1 day non-residential
Pre-Requisites: Recommended attendance on International Acquisition Awareness (IAA).
Designed For: Personnel working on international co-operative equipment programmes with one or more European partners and those in policy-related posts.

Objectives: By the end of the course delegates will know:

• UK policy for defence equipment co-operation in Europe;
• The various European fora for co-operation, in particular EDA, OCCAR;
• The way in which our major European partners operate in the international defence equipment co-operation environment;
• The structure of the procurement systems and procurement policies of our major European partners;
• The experience of an IPT involved in co-operation in Europe.
