Pricing Techniques

Description: A stand alone module covering core functional training which also comprises part of the syllabus for the Office of Government Commerce Certificate of Competence in Purchasing & Supply. The course develops advanced Contract pricing techniques. The content of this course is also covered in Commercial Awareness Practitioner Programme On-Line Training (CAPPOL).
Aim: To equip delegates with practical skills associated with pricing principles and risks, variation of price and contract incentivisation.
Duration: 1 day non-residential.
Pre-Requisites: None.
Designed For: This course is open to acquisition staff wishing to enhance their expertise in this field. The course will only run when there is a full class.

Objectives: By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

• List the hierarchy of alternative pricing methods available;
• Identify general factors affecting MOD pricing activity and how this relates to current policy;
• Interpret the two main price variation formulae currently in use;
• Apply the techniques when required to achieve an acceptable pricing arrangement;
• Identify realistic opportunities to use incentive schemes in contracts;
• Interpret and plot appropriate graphs and use formulae derived from the graphs;
• State the purpose, principles and operation of performance incentives.
