| Description: |
Successful Project Management means managing a project in a logical,
organised way, following defined steps. PRINCE2® is a
government owned structured project management methodology that provides those
logical steps and facilitates success. The course will be a mixture of trainer
led and practical sessions delivered by an APM Group accredited
trainer/consultant with qualified practical experience of managing projects
within a MOD and Industry environment. Each delegate will take the PRINCE2®
Foundation Examination and the PRINCE2® Practitioner Examination during the
course. The preparation for these examinations will require both essential
pre-course reading and commitment to extra curricular study during the first 4
days. . |
| Aim: |
To give a full and in-depth understanding of PRINCE2®. To
emphasise the benefits of a standard approach to project management. Delegates
with a sound working knowledge of project management should be able to use the
PRINCE2® methodology in a live project after the course. |
| Exam: |
Each delegate will sit the PRINCE2® Foundation and
Practitioner Examinations during the course. |
| Duration: |
5 days non-residential. Preparation for the examination element of this
course will require both essential pre-course reading and commitment to extra
curricular study during the first 4 days of the course. |
| Pre-requisites: |
- Mandatory Principles of Project Management (PM1/PM1OL) and Project
Management Tools and Techniques (PM4);
- It is expected that delegates will have at least 12 months experience of
project management;
- In addition to the standard application form, candidates are expected to
complete and attach a short approved business case justifying MOD funding
their place on the course. The business case will be assessed on the
following criteria:
• There is a clearly defined business need to the course;
• The business unit/IPT must be using the PRINCE methodology or can show
there is a clear intent to implement PRINCE in the short term;
• The course has been identified in a PADR to meet current business needs;
• The individual is moving into a role/post which currently utilises the
PRINCE methodology;
• The individual is currently within a support role which requires knowledge
of the methodology to support and inform business skills requirements;
• The application is signed by the IPLT or equivalent.

Project managers, Team managers, or personnel in a project assurance or
project support role. This course is designed for personnel who are currently
working in, or are about to move to a project that uses PRINCE2®
methodology. |
