| Description: |
Part of the international suite of courses, this course is aimed at MOD
staff who need to be able to draft, staff, comment upon, manage or terminate
Memoranda of Understanding or other international formal arrangements. The
impact of varying cultures is also addressed as well as aspects of negotiation
skills of value for the international environment. Also suited to staff with
experience of the above but who haven’t been trained and want to expand their
knowledge. |
| Aim: |
To enable staff to confidently participate in the creation, management or termination of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) and to undertake the required international negotiations. |

2 days non-residential |
| Pre-Requisites: |
Recommended attendance on International Acquisition Awareness (IAA). |
| Designed For: |
Staff at all levels who are involved with International negotiations. This course is not open to industry delegates. |
| Objectives: |
By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
• Explain the purpose and use of an MOU;
• Understand the main differences between a Treaty; a MOU and a Contract;
• Describe the process of creating and staffing a MOU;
• Describe the general structure and the content of an MOU;
• Identify sources of expert guidance on all aspects of developing and staffing
a MOU;
• Identify documentation relevant to MOU;
• Identify the factors that influence cost and work shares and the principle
methods of cost share;
• Recognise the additional challenges and opportunities associated with
international negotiations;
• Describe the MOU final staffing process and arrangements for signature. |
