Integrated Logistic Support Introduction On-Line Training
Course Code ILSIOL
Description: This on-line course provides an overview of Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) at an awareness level. It will give you the ILS introduction you require in a form that is easy to assimilate and allows you to learn at a pace that suits you.
Aim: The aim of this course, which has been developed by Defence Academy - Bristol and the Through Life Support Directorate (TLSD), is to introduce you to Integrated Logistic Support, a comprehensive, through-life discipline that delivers supported and supportable equipment at optimum whole life cost. ILS applies to all acquisition activity.
Duration: 7 Hours Approximately. The only limitation on your study is the length of time you have to complete the Course - 60 days from starting it. 
Pre-Requisites: To get the most out of this course you should have a good understanding of defence acquisition. If you do not already have this it is strongly recommended that you undertake Introduction to Defence Acquisition (IDA/IDAOLT).
Designed For: The course is designed for anybody employed in acquisition. For those who are employed in ILS posts, or who have an interest in developing their ILS skills further, it will provide a solid foundation on which to build. For those not directly employed in ILS posts the course will provide you with a greater understanding of the acquisition process and where the ILS function interacts with yours.

• Explain the application of ILS as an integral part of the through life management of equipment;
• Understand the ILS aspects of submissions to Approving Authorities;
• Explain the importance of the inclusion of cost approved ILS within submissions to Approving Authorities;
• Understand the purpose of the Support Solutions Envelope (SSE);
• Identify SSE practices and boundaries;
• Understand ILS programme and contract deliverables;
• Understand the ILS deliverables approval process;
• Understand the MOD’s ILS programme management and review process;
• Explain the importance of managing the ILS programme and ILS deliverables after contract award;
• Understand the provision of logistic services to meet in-service equipment needs;
• Explain the importance of the collection of in-service support data;
• Understand the importance of openness and transparency in the provision of logistic services.
