| Description: |
This course provides an overview of the MOD’s equipment
life cycle and its attendant acquisition and support processes. It will provide
delegates with sources of further information and the knowledge that they will
require to benefit from other courses. |

The aim of the course is to provide a basic understanding
of the defence acquisition process. |

| Designed For: |
All personnel new to Acquisition. It would also benefit
those who need to refresh and update their knowledge, and other MOD personnel
who require an outline awareness of the acquisition process. Others (including
those from Industry and overseas) who would find the course useful may also be
eligible. |

| Objectives: |
By the end of the course delegates will be able to:
• Identify and describe the stages of the MOD’s acquisition life cycle and
explain how each stage contributes to the acquisition process;
• List and explain the functions of an Integrated Project Team;
• Explain the basic principles of project planning;
• Describe the Acquisition Operating Framework and explain its use in the
acquisition process;
• List the MOD support organisations which can assist an IPT in the acquisition
process and describe the roles that they play;
• Explain the various roles that Industry can play in the defence acquisition
process. |
