International Culture Workshop

Description: This workshop is designed for teams and individuals involved with interaction or co-operation with other nations, both bilaterally and through international fora. Knowledge of the differing thought processes and aspirations of other nations and an understanding of how they perceive us can help in preparing you to deliver more effective business. Suitable for individuals or a team event.
Aim: To assist delegates in gaining an advanced understanding of how culture aspects impact on MOD business with other nations and develop strategies to best manage cultural differences.
Duration: 1 day non-residential
Pre-Requisites: To participate in the workshop, it is recommended that delegates have a minimum of 5 years experience of working with other nations, or have attended the International Acquisition Awareness (IAA) and the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) courses. Staff who have not attained the necessary pre‑requisites may complete a distance learning package before attendance.
Designed For: Teams and individuals working with international partners.

Objectives: By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

• Relate to how UK MOD staff are viewed by their partners from other countries;
• Identify how the behaviour of our international partners is influenced by national characteristics and national policies;
• Recognise how our partners are likely to behave and what strategies they are likely to deploy;
• Develop and apply their own strategies, interpreting body language, taking the initiative and utilising language skills (of English and others).
