All Project Managers (a role defined as anyone who owns and/or controls and updates plans) are required to undertake the Enterprise Project Planning course in order to gain access to the toolset. The course uses DE&S project plan templates and the DE&S planning, scheduling and control process to demonstrate how a team project schedule is composed using the MS Project 2003 Enterprise toolset (this is the DE&S specific variant of MS Project 2003 that is supported and maintained by the Application Services Team (AST).
Aim: The aim of the course is to provide an overview of the DE&S planning, scheduling and control process and provide hands-on tuition of the toolset functionality to ensure project managers are competent at applying the toolset to support the process.
Duration: 1 day non-residential
Pre-Requisites: Basic knowledge of MS Project is desirable (see Related Learning for courses available). An appreciation of the DE&S planning process, Defence Acquisition Lifecycles (e.g. CADMID and CADMIT) and basic project planning techniques (e.g. Work Breakdown Structures, Three Point Estimates) is also assumed. Please note that you cannot self book via HRMS onto this course.
Exemption: Waivers may be given to users, but only where they can demonstrate that they are experienced users of MS Project and have a good understanding of DE&S processes. All users seeking a waiver from this course should contact AST for an assessment.
Designed For: All DE&S planning and scheduling staff who need to prepare and update project plans using MS Project 2003 Enterprise. All users will be expected to book themselves an available slot within 6 months of acquiring the software and will be reminded at an appropriate time by AST to do so.
