United States - International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
Course Code USITAR
Description: This one day workshop is part of a suite of courses designed to provide an understanding of appropriate working relations with foreign governments, with a view to defence procurement and co-operation. The US-ITAR workshop is aimed at delegates who are currently or about to engage in procurement activities with the US and/or US defence suppliers. It provides an overview of the ITAR regulations, as well as the policy constraints on US Defence Procurement and provides guidance on following correct protocol and procedures.
Aim: To provide delegates with a practitioner view of US-ITAR policy.
Duration: 1 day non-residential.
Pre-Requisites: Recommended attendance on International Acquisition Awareness (IAA). This workshop will also compliment the knowledge gained on the United Kingdom/United States (UK/US) course. Delegates who apply are assumed to require the ITAR training as part of developing their role in their current job responsibilities.
Designed For: Delegates working in UK/US partnering arrangements where ITAR will apply for those seeking pre-employment training relating to working within an ITAR project team.

Objectives: By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

• Provide an overview of ITAR and its impact;
• Explain the inter-relationships between ITAR and Intellectual Property (IP);
• Explain the main ITAR processes and regulatory requirements;
• Explain the key ITAR stakeholders;
• Complete a group activity against a given case study (Project Whirlwind);
• Explain the purpose of the US/UK Defence Trade Co-operation Treaty.
