Inventory Management Advanced Practitioner

Description: This workshop will ensure that all Inventory Managers achieve the level of functional competence required by advanced practitioners prior to completion of the Certificate of Competence.
Aim: To provide licensed and experienced Inventory Managers with the knowledge and understanding of Defence Inventory Management policy and processes to attain the Certificate of Competence.
Duration: 4 days non-residential.
Pre-Requisites: Attendees must have attained their licence prior to attendance. To become licensed, individuals must have completed the Licence test and all relevant IS training.
Designed For:

Licensed Inventory Managers with a minimum of 6 months experience.

Objectives:

By the end of the course delegates will be able to:

• Explain what training and development is required by Inventory Managers at all levels;
• Demonstrate detailed situational awareness if the contribution made by Inventory Management to overall platform and equipment support to operational capabilities;
• Apply best practice inventory and supply chain management and ways of working throughout Defence and Industry;
• Explain and apply how the complementary principles and methods of agile and lean logistics are used to best effect to improve inventory effectiveness and efficiency;
• Demonstrate the principles and purpose of material accounting and financial accounting for Inventory;
• Explain how inventory performance measurement fits within the overarching Defence Logistics Performance Management (and associated governance) regime;
• Demonstrate a good understanding of how the Inventory Plan supports future inventory management strategy;
• Demonstrate a good understanding of optimal spares modelling methodology, tools and techniques to provide a foundation for further SME specialist training where appropriate;
• Demonstrate and apply detailed understanding of inventory and broader supply chain risks and benefits;
• Understand the future support landscape, in terms of the detailed implications of different contractor logistics support (CLS) models upon inventory management roles, responsibilities, functions and outputs.
